Simplicity Linux 12.7 Netbook Beta Is Here!

This is Simplicity Linux 12.7 Netbook Beta.  We’ve made a few changes…

The biggest change we’ve made is that no longer does Netbook have links to folders of web applications.  Instead we have used Cairo Dock and put applications on there for you to use.  Instant messaging is handled by Pidgin.  We’re going to include a few tutorials on this blog for setting up Pidgin for Facebook because it can be done, it’s just a pain.  We also bundled a link to Dropbox, because the app is too heavy for Netbook, and the site is just as good as the app in our view.  Social media is covered by Twitter, Facebook and Google+.  There is a new style control panel which we actually like and think is a bit more intuitive than the Windows control panel (I speak from recent experience!)  We also have a Google button for people who want to just get straight to Google – i.e.: Linux newcomers.  Plus you can now access your clipboard history – a first for Simplicity Linux out of the box.  You can also access music via the epic Grooveshark.  We also have a new look CPU monitor, volume control, and you can control the luminosity of your monitor.  But one app we really like – weather on the dock.  Trust us, it’s really handy.

You can download it from http://sourceforge.net/projects/simplicitylinux/files/12.7Betas/SimplicityLinuxNetbook12.7Beta.iso/download

And look out for a special competition coming later today just for Linux newbies.
